History
The history of the company VULKAN dates back to 1890, when the factory owner Hurling with his partner Hammen from Saxony established Czech-Saxon factory for rubber goods in Hradek nad Nisou, in the area of former brick factory of the Earl Clam-Gallas. The factory had 15 workers at this time and it produced rubber goods for industrial purposes.
TheBerlin-Frankfurt joint stock company of factories producing rubber goods bought the company in 1892 and it became a branch factory in our region under the name Veritas. There were already 140 workers in the factory at that time. Rubber hoses, belts, tires, seals, etc. were mainly produced. The factory was bought in 1938 by joint stock company Fridjof Peterson from Sweden and the production further grew. The company employed more than 600 employees.
The company PJS Hans Scheibert became the owner of the factory during the Second World War in 1942 and it operated under the name Gummiwerke Grottau (GWG) on the war production of rubber belts, boats, seals for submarines and aircrafts and other army material. The number of employees reaches 1200, 600 of them are of different nationalities (Russians, Italians, Frenchmen).
There is a significant decrease in production in the postwar period and logically the number of employees is dropping to 147 employees. According to the Decree of the Ministry of Industry of Czechoslovakia from December 1945 is even the whole production transferred to the company Matador Bratislava in Slovakia. With regard to the political changes in our country, was the national administration of Matador Bratislava discontinued in 1947 and the new MITAS factory in Hradek nad Nisou emerged by joining the company Michelin (MI) and Veritas (TAS). Due to confiscation and later to nationalization of small businesses, the production was from transferred VULKAN Bynov u Decina, Hroch-Hradec Kralove, Emil Schuran-Praha and other e.g. from Zlin, Napajedla, Olomouc, Brno, etc. to our factory.
The company accepts with the name Emil Schuran also the brand of condoms Primeros and it starts a new production program of rubber products such as children goods, utility and surgical gloves, which remain in the development series of our production up to now under the brand DONA. New production technology was also bought with the change of production focus, mainly from Germany and other European countries.
The company changes gradually its name according to the structure of the national economy, in 1948 factory Rubena with central office in Nachod (337 employees), since February 1950 independent factory VULKAN, Hradek nad Nisou, where the number of employees rose to 800 in the course of seven years, since 1958 Plastimat with central office in Jablonec (850 employees), which was in x1963 integrated back to Rubena Nachod (733 employees).
The factory is incorporated in the period from 1969 to 1989 in the Czech rubber industry factories with central office in Gottwaldov and it becomes a monopoly producer in the area of condoms, baby’s dummies and soothers, balls and toys, surgical, utility and technical gloves for the whole former Eastern Europe (with stable width=100% number of employees around 720).
The joint stock company VULKAN, Hradek nad Nisou, was established on 1.12.1990 according to the promoter plans of the Ministry of Industry CR, from which were in 2005 separated two independent companies transferring the know-how of the original company. One of which is our PJS VULKAN- Medical.
